) What would you do if a secret cabal of the nation’s most powerful people asked you to overthrow the President? Weirdly enough – it’s not a hypothetical. It almost happened to FDR in the 1930s, were it not for a very intense, very problematic Marine named Major General Smedley Butler. Join Ben Bowlin, Alex French, and a cast of historical characters brought to life by Joe Kinosian for a darkly comedic – and terrifying – retelling of one of the weirdest forgotten schemes in American history. Let's Start a Coup! WebsiteEpisode 5 dropped today, and I'm really enjoying this podcast. If you like podcasts about history, specifically American history, but with comedic elements added in, you'll enjoy this as much as I am.

Stories of the Old West told in a new way. Hear the tales of lawmen like Wyatt Earp and Wild Bill Hickok and the Texas Rangers; outlaws like Jesse James and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; Native American leaders like Red Cloud, Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse; and rowdy towns like Deadwood, Tombstone and Dodge City. The Old West lives here. Hosted by Chris Wimmer, this show features our signature cinematic music and sound design. blackbarrelmedia.com/legends-of-the-old-west/I am way behind on this show. There are currently 28 Seasons, of about 6 to 10 episodes per season. I'm in the middle of Season 9 - Apache Wars. These are all nice, short episodes, about 30 minutes, and Chris is really good about giving you all the info without it being boring.

Take a journey through the wildest, and sometimes darkest, chapters of American history. From the Salem Witch Trials to the gangsters of the 1930s to assassins, traitors, outlaws, scandals and events that still defy explanation, you’ll hear them all on this historical true crime podcast. Hosted by Chris Wimmer, this show features our signature cinematic music and sound design. blackbarrelmedia.com/infamous-america/I had finished listening to the season on Frank Hamer over on Legends of the Old West. He was a Texas Ranger who was most famous for gunning down (from a concealed ambush) Bonnie and Clyde. As the season ended, the host reminded me that he also does this show, Infamous America, and that Season 12 was all about Bonnie and Clyde, so that's what I'm listening to now. Other seasons include: Billy the Kid, Benedict Arnold, DB Cooper, and Alcatraz.
