I'm sure I'll bring this up in a future episode, but I think about it every time I've edited one of these and I want to make sure I get it out there in case I forget.
These stories are crazy. We've said that already. That's not new. But, the Silver Age is also known for it's share of crazy stories as well.
The difference, I think, is that the Silver Age crazy is almost meant to be crazy. I mean, they're about wacky aliens and people growing extra limbs and other fantastical type elements.
These Golden Age stories however, well... they seem to be more down to Earth, normal type things for the time. Or at least, take the idea that Superman would kidnap someone, tie them to their own bed, drug them, and then assume their identity, just so that he can go under cover on the football team (keep in mind, this is a regular football player, not a bad guy). While the idea of all that seems insane to most of us, I guess it seemed like a perfectly reasonable plan to the creators back then.
And THAT is why these stories are crazy!
