I have 30 minutes completed so far on Episode 1.
This one, I think, will come together much slower because I'm writing each segment/sketch one at a time, then recording that segment/sketch. Each one I finish I add to the whole, coming up with transitional stuff and seeing how it fits together. Sometimes that will mean I have to write and create something to fill in things and help the flow.
But, so far, I think that most of this 30 minutes, like 98%-99% of it is just great.
This part of the process is all about seeing how everything fits together and trying stuff out and ultimately feeling out how long of an episode I need to be doing. Not that I'm going to ruin myself trying to fit each episode into a certain timeframe, but, I think an average time for an episode is something to shoot for.

For example, Episode 1 fits together, so far, like this:
1 - Cold Opening, which is a sketch, and it's about 3 minutes 40 seconds long.
2 - The Episode Introduction (This is the theme song followed by the "Hello and welcome to the show and blah, blah, blah" stuff). This is about 2 minutes 40 seconds long.
3 - Comic Talk, which I start talking about Youngblood #1. This goes for about 4 minutes until we break for a "commercial".
4 - Fake Commercial, which is about 1 minute 30 seconds
5 - Comic Talk, which I continue talking about Youngblood #1. This goes for about 15 minutes 20 seconds (I'm thinking of maybe adding a second fake commercial to break that up just a bit. Maybe halfway in)
6 - Another Sketch, actually it's the second part, or a continuation of the sketch that opens the show. This is about 6 minutes.
So basically there's a mix of silly voice type stuff breaking up the non silly voice type stuff.
The decision I have to make at this point is this:
Do I record the ending of the show where I thank everyone and blah, blah, blah and leave the show at almost 40 minutes?
Or
Do I add two more segments in there.
I am of two frames of mind on this.
One: Comedy seems to be better in short form. Comedy TV episodes are shorter than drama; and in most cases, comedy movies are shorter than dramas. So keep this show short and move on to the next episode.
Two: I feel that this show needs to be more than what I have right now. The three MAIN segments of this show right now are a sketch, a comic review, and a sketch. I think there needs to be at least two more segments in there. The idea I'm thinking of is a segment after the second sketch in which I talk about something I've learned, like a funny informational type of thing. Then another short comedy bit, like a grumpy old man monologue or something, then I close out the show.
That will put the episode in at almost an hour.
So here's what I'm going to do.
I'm going to go ahead and record the ending bit where I close out the show, add it to the end of what I have now, listen to the whole thing in one go (on at least two different occasions because I've learned it's good to walk away from it for at least 24 hours and give it another listen) and then see how I feel.
