Before I get started I wanted to let everyone know that for my initial post, there will be no spoilers.
However, if you wish to participate in this conversation, and you want to post spoilers, that's fine, I only ask that you use Spoiler Tags.

DC VS VAMPIRES
Written by: Matthew Rosenberg and James Tynion IV
Art by: Otto Schmidt and Simone Di Meo (a few pages in issues 5 and 6)
Before I talk about this series let me just say that I'm usually not a fan of vampire books, movies, comics, and what not.
And yet, I still jumped into DC vs Vampires with both feet.
Why?
It was a number of reasons, actually.
The first two were James Tynion IV and Otto Schmidt. Two singularly impressive talents together on one book? How could I not?
Not to take anything away from Matthew Rosenberg and Simone Di Meo (also immense talents), I just didn't really know who they were until I started in on this series.
Beyond that, you had the first cover which featured Batman and Green Arrow killing vampires.
Again, how could I resist? I mean, I love Green Arrow, and he's teaming up with Batman and killing vampires? There was no way I was NOT going to get this book.
Also, it's a 12 issue limited series and is told out of continuity, and frankly, I'm starting to find that I enjoy out of continuity stories much better these days because anything can happen, which means there is actual peril involved and the stakes matter.
Speaking of stakes, pun very much intended, the basic premise of this series is that the Vampire Queen, Mary Queen of Blood, was all that held the peace between vampires and human kind. Without her, the vampires would be trying to take over the world.
Well guess what?
Yeah, someone took her out and then took over. There's a new Vampire Sherriff in town and they're ready to bring us regular humans under their rule.
That's not a spoiler, by the way. Not really. It's what sets the story in motion.
Anyway, Batman finds out, of course, and gathers his family together and they prepare for war while Green Arrow is doing the same.
That's all I'm prepared to give away at this point.
In fact, I just finished #6, which came out today, and I can't say anything about it either.
I mean, something happened that I can't talk about without spoiling it, and that's just not something I'm willing to do today.
I will be talking about #6 in an upcoming My Other Podcast (my Patreon Podcast), but rather than do it this week, I'll save it for next week. But only because I promised my patrons an episode about issues 1-6 of The Human Target.
For now, after 6 issues, the series will be going on a short break, and by short I mean that I'm not sure when it's coming back. Maybe June. I don't know. But there is a book coming out in May called DC vs. Vampires – Hunters #1, so there's that to look forward to.
And so, to wrap it all up for now: I am in love with this series. The writing, the art, it all just comes together to create a pleasurable experience for the eyes, the mind, and the soul.
The soul? Was that too cheesy?
Anyway, what did you think?
