Barlowe NY, now. We see that the Sheriff is involved in something that ultimately costs him his life. By page four we have seen the Harrower. Meaning what it looks like will not be part of the mystery moving forward.
We learn the Harrower keeps Barlowe 'pure' and that a symbol either summons or is left in it's wake a a calling card.
Reed, Cater Creed (Sheriff's son), Jessica Brink , Jax, Jax's female companion and brown haired girl. Carter' sister and Jessica's brother were both killed ten years earlier in a car crash that I believe we are led to believe was caused by the Harrower or is just a cover for the fact that the Harrower did the deal.
Two rather gruesome deaths so far. The book very much has an 80's slasher movie.
I like that the bad guy wears executioner garb. I think it will be supernatural being rather than someone dressed up. So far there is no one unaccounted for.

Fairly visceral opening panel but I believe the anatomy is wrong.
Elise, St Brigid and Marin seem to be our main protagonists. I wonder if one of them is the killer? That would be kinda disappointing.
This one is also starting to loose me, not sure why. Maybe the longer the story goes the more Elise proves fallible and it's getting kinda tiresome for me that the author is working so hard to make her characters like the rest of us. The setting is cool, the mystery fairly interesting. The character and thinly disguised social commentary not so much.
That's all. I'm out till next time. Ciao.
