I read the Stern/Byrne Cap run from the mid 240's to the mid 250's of volume 1.
Solid Cap. No fascist Cap. No children of Cap. No Cap in other dimensions. No other people playing at being Cap.
Just street level Cap trying to be a regular dude outside the uniform and Caps/ rogues gallley, some of the best in comics.
Plus John Byrne in his prime.
It's collected in the War and Remembrance trade. Get it if you like Cap.

There was a time when I dabbled with the idea of doing a John Byrne podcast, or at least a series of John Byrne Episodes on JAF (I still might), and this was on my radar at the time. Read some of it and remembered quite enjoying it.

It was for me exactly what I want Captain America to be. I just can't understand why they let it go wrong. In my opinion current Cap is a tremendous disservice to the character and his legacy.
