Enjoying the episode so far, Gentlemen! Started on my rainy drive home last night but had to turn it off to focus. Ha.
I didn't know about the other early development stories from other artists prior to reuniting with Shuster. That would be interesting to see in a collection.
And like you Steeven, I only read Action Comics 1 for the first time in the past 3-4 years. Ooops!

It's funny how people can have a favorite character, like me and Superman, and go their entire lives without reading the issue that first introduced that character to the world. It happens quite often.

I just finished the first episode and wanted to say ‘excellent job!’ I find it hard to be too critical of comics from the golden age because the level of craft and production has increased so much. I think you did a good job of talking about the comic’s faults and successes.
I enjoyed the portrayal of Lois as an independent and strong woman. The one part I didn’t like was the editor assigning Clark to investigate Superman and then when Lois says she met him, the editor thinks she’s crazy.
There was a lot of energy in the comic which made it a fast and fun read.
I think quite a few of the elements we’re familiar with in Superman come from other media - flying, Jimmy Olsen, kryptonite.
I read this on the DC Infinite app and was a little disappointed that the whole issue isn’t on there, just the Superman story. It would have been interesting to compare it to the other stories from that issue. I do understand there probably isn’t much interest in those other stories to make it worth the time or money to digitize everything.
Looking forward to the next episode.

Thanks for listening and I'm glad you enjoyed the episode. There will be a great big bunch of episodes coming your way weekly.

Zatara and Tex Thompson both show up for the first time in Action Comics 1 and are both considered seminal characters in DC so it would be cool to get Action Comics in general reprinted at this point. I guess not being the new hotness in some movie is hurting getting that stuff reprinted. That seems to be the only things making money and getting interest. Actually only Dr Occult and Slam Bradley are older.
